The model, built.
SharedMercantile is the idea. RIF Industries built it — and an AI B2B platform is how it runs at the scale of a single owner.
What RIF is to SharedMercantile
RIF Industries implemented the model as an open-source Advanced Supply Chain Portal — a single operating loop in which aggregate vendors buy a base product, process the material, and deliver a value-add product directly, as an inclusive alternative to the conglomerates and resource platforms that control most value-add supply chains.[1] The model was filed as a patent in 2009: WO 2010/105330, “Method of processing a natural resource,” which describes a purchaser acquiring, through a web portal, specifically identified lots of a resource for processing — with physical means to mark and track each lot.[2]
What an AI B2B platform could do for owners
The 2009 portal described the loop. What was missing then — and is available now — is an intelligence layer that collapses the complexity only large players could previously afford. An AI-driven B2B platform turns the concept into something an individual owner can actually run, by giving one person the department a conglomerate has:
This is where SharedMercantile stops being an argument and becomes executable. The portal gave the model a shape; an AI B2B platform gives each owner the capability to run it — to own a real asset, add value to it, and trade it, with the intelligence of a large institution and the independence of an individual.
